annerb: (Medium)

So I finally finished all of Medium, though I have to admit I was in no way prepared as I watched the series finale. (It is the 13th episode of the seventh season and I was totally assuming they had a full 23 or so eps like a normal season.) Hence, I watched the entire ep waiting for the reset button at the end and when it didn't come I was sort of knocked sideways. Sad that I had finished this series, bewildered with how they chose to go out, and actually kind of outraged when I thought about it more. You decided to end the series by killing off Joe? Are you out of your mind? Though I can't be certain if I was pissed that they killed Joe, even with the future perfect resolution 'we are together for all time' bit at the end, or if I was pissed with how much killing off a main character in canon kills the prospect of after-canon fanfic. Lol. At the same time, I was again so thankful to be a fanficcer, because I think our brains are wired a bit differently, and we have more capacity for 'oh, I hated how they did this, but that's okay because I would have just done it like this: presto, fic!' At the same time though, there are some canon events that I just can't escape and really can ruin my appreciation of a show or fandom. I keep turning to my husband and saying, "I can't believe they killed Joe!" This is almost as bad as when they made him cut his hair. I seriously had to flip immediately back to the first episode, just to see Joe back in that bed with her again making jokes and trying to apply logic to her crazy dreams. So, I've started the process of pretending the last episode never happened, but that leads to imagining how I would have done it instead, and that leads to fanfic. Which...DANGER.

There's like only a handful of fic for Medium, which makes me pretty sad. Add to that the laws of fanfic percentages, and there are probably only one or two awesome fics out there somewhere. So the search begins.

Though I have already half-invented a fic where Jacob goes and haunts Ariel at school until she agrees to go down to DC and tell Jack about some imminent total destruction of Earth event. There will be a moment where Jacob says to Ariel, "You're talking to a dead person, and it's the aliens you're having a hard time with?" (Oh lord, add this to my pile of wacko cross-overs I am NOT writing. Right next to that Stargate/Leverage one.)

Now back to my [livejournal.com profile] help_japan fic and trying to get the next chapter of my Ginny fic at least off to beta before the movie opens tomorrow. Ha.
