Blu-ray edition of Last of the Mohicans
Hallelujah. What Michael Mann absolutely slaughtered in the 'extended' DVD version has finally been (mostly) put back to right. Nathaniel's snarky one liners are all back but one ("Nothing better to do on the lake today, Major?" is still on the cutting room floor somewhere. Boo.), the original music put back in the climatic pursuit scene, though no longer in English. Plus, the achingly beautiful cinematography in blu-ray? Gorgeous. There is a reason this may be my favorite film of all time.
Multifannish Fic Reading Habits
Sure, I'm an epically picky reader, but I have been having so much fun lately spreading out into various fandoms. I just....is there anything better than unexpectedly tripping over an awesome fic? I love that feeling. I love fics that leave me thinking or make me smile or are just darn good. Latest fic: Turned Myself to Face Me by
mary_flanner (Glee, Kurt/Blaine). What a fantastic look at these characters and the impact they have had on each other. Lovely.
Streaming Netflix: TV
How else could I have sat down and watched my favorite episodes of disparate shows on a whim? Last weekend's selection included:
+Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations: Rome (omg, the best ep ever. The overblown Fellini references, the forced sense of ennui, Bourdain's misuse of the words existentialist crisis every five seconds, his bored, ball busting wife, the near brawl in a Roman eatery, THE FOOD. This is Rome, people. Man, I want to go back. And not just for the Cacio e Pepe. Though mostly.)
Better Off Ted: Racial Sensitivity (I have already waxed poetic about the brilliance and hilarity of this ep. Now go watch it on Netflix).
Third Rock From the Sun: Dick Like Me (Priceless take on humans and the categories we claim. "All you people look the same to me." God, I'd almost forgotten how ridiculously funny that show was. Kristen Johnston, where did you go?)
Overthinking It

Wow, it's like this webpage was made for me or something. Articles and articles dedicated to overthinking everything. Their tag line is "Movies, TV, Music, and Popular Culture...taken way too seriously." Brilliant. They have some great articles taking on video games (The Awful, Sexist Plot of Starcraft 2), directors (Does Christopher Nolan have a woman problem?), and even, yes, those ponies (Solidarity is Illusion: The Political Economy of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic). If you can get through that last article, you deserve a Nobel Prize in Economics.
ETA: OMG. FUNNIEST THING EVER: What Do the Stormtroopers Think of Vader?
City and Colour
Their album 'Bring Me Your Love' has been an obsession of mine for months now. (If you like Mumford&Sons or Radical Face, I think you will really like City and Colour.) *puts album on repeat*
Allegiance
Oh, Stargate. I could honestly never tire of watching this episode. And not just because season 6 Jack may just be the hottest Jack of all. Really. I mean, Jacob and Bra'tac in the same episode? What more could a fangirl want? Okay, how about references to 'false positives' and awkward Not-Looking looks? Plus, JANET. Jack and Jacob having a serious conversation about the state of the universe and the events of Abyss? You need more? Then how about grumpy Jack being so damn good at being commander of the base (should we ignore that hypothetically the Alpha Site should have had a dedicated commander? Lol). It makes me want to write a fic where Jack takes command of one of the off-world sites. Imagine, Jack in charge, but with a gun still in his hands. Perfect. (Plus, I would work in something about Sam and blurry lines of chain of command. OF COURSE. Lol. Hm. A 'Death Knell' type ep where Sam gets to save Jack's ass? Hmmmmm.)
Plus, once I'm done watching Allegiance, I get to read the metric ton of post-eps by JoJo. And that one by Suzvoy. But I could always use more.
Okay, and that's it for today's edition of Annerb sticking her fingers in her ears and squeeing loudly. Wake me up when the apocalypse is over.
