SG-1 season eight's 'Icon' was originally supposed to be a Sam episode? *head explodes with the plot and angsty S/J possibilities* No, Stargate boys, there can NEVER be too many Sam episodes.

*shoves plot bunnies back under the bed to ignore and goes back to NaNo*

I am now imagining an episode where Sam Carter bonds with a native woman and starts a nuclear war. STUPID SG PEOPLE.

Stupid boys. The possibilities are truly ENDLESS. (Sam would have taken over that whole world in a matter of months.)

Damn straight.

Will you add it to the list of [angsty S/J] stuff to write after NaNo's over? :D :D :D?

Ha! Where exactly in the pile should that one go? Probably underneath the WIPs I'm in the middle of. Don't want to get shot. ;)

Underneath the WIP's you're in the middle of and underneath the sequel to Rusted Wheel but above the really really dusty plot bunnies :3.

Actually, this reminds me I've had a question for you...since I basically have an insane fear of unfinished WIPs and try not to start anything if it's not gonna be finished - is the Down Here Among the Wreckage series something you're still working on, or is the series on hiatus?

posted by [identity profile] annerbhp.livejournal.com at 06:07am on 10/11/2010
I have every intention of finishing Wreckage. But...you know how that goes, intentions and all. I have, as of yet, never defaulted on a WIP of this sort before (*knocks on every piece of wood within reach*), but I can't promise anything. Oy. Proceed at your own risk.

Okay, I'll wait then :3. Finish the series, finish all the fic I can find post-series, and then come back <3.

And by 'finish the series', I mean 'goddamn I really need to get past halfway through season 9'.

Season 10 is worth it. Push on through. Plus, there is that awesome Sam and Daniel late season nine ep. Arthur's Mantle? Go forth!

Is Continuum worth it? I miss Sam/Jack like burning :(.

posted by [identity profile] kedd.livejournal.com at 11:39pm on 10/11/2010
Oooh... sounds like we're in a similar dilemma. Except, after I got half-way through season nine and quit, I ended up being assigned a Continuum-based prompt for a fic-a-thon. So, I watched that, without finishing the rest. And I enjoyed it. There's not a LOT of Sam/Jack, but AT is especially amazing in parts of it making you just feel the S/J angst.

posted by [identity profile] meoinya.livejournal.com at 03:55am on 13/11/2010
Sam's reactions just scream angst.... AT was magnificent.

Gah, that would have been so COOL! Dumb boys...

Wouldn't it have been awesome? I mean, I love Daniel, but the whole alien woman falls in love with him and Daniel talks his way into a revolution is just...yeah.

posted by [identity profile] miri-d.livejournal.com at 06:04am on 10/11/2010
Is just done. Again and again.

I think it would have been much cooler if it had been Sam, but sort of in the same story (but obviously with Sam's talents at the forefront instead of Daniel's). And Sam falls in love with an alien woman and there's much angst from sexuality *and* from Sam and Jack misses the heck out of each other.

The whole plot line was like "ooh, let us fulfill every stereotype in the world in 44 minutes"... Sigh, damn lazy male writers, god forbid we actually do CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT or something slightly original. The motivation for everyone in that plot was total male fantasy - what women would fall in love with the amnesiac stranger (outside of a romance novel)?

posted by [identity profile] miri-d.livejournal.com at 02:51pm on 10/11/2010
I mean, Daniel is pretty lovable, if I'm looking at him from a stranger's perspective (have you seen dem arms?) but no rly, yeah. I feel like a lot of the time Sam's episodes found ways to be the least stereotypical, and most dynamic, episodes. Especially when there's not a lot of talking because she's running for her life instead I jest.

I believe this calls for an actual moment of mourning for all the lost possibilities...

...stupid Stargate boys indeed (on a related note, something about Mallozzi's tone in that post explains to me why Kindler would go off and create Helen Magnus in his spare time).

posted by [identity profile] bristow1941.livejournal.com at 07:22am on 10/11/2010
The writing coming out of Sanctuary is so good compared to what came out of the Stargate writers' room past and present that it's hard to believe that Kindler ever wrote for Stargate. It makes me mourn for what Stargate could have been and question why I'm still TiNo'ing Stargate Universe. I watch Stargate Universe once everything else on my Tivo is gone and it's like playing Ripoff Jeopardy (name every episode they are lifting lines and plot from in 60 seconds).

But then I watch Sanctuary and somehow seeing Amanda Tapping in something so amazingly empowering and well-written yet entertaining makes me remember how fun and enjoyable the best of Stargate and it survives another week in the hope of another Amanda Tapping or RDA cameo.

I know, so sad. Almost as sad as that season of Sam on Atlantis being wallpaper. Almost.

Magnus!! Thank god for that.

You know, I am sure, that for every plot bunny that you shove back under the bed, two more escape? Especially when you are doing NaNo. And they wrinkle their little bunny noses and hop hopefully and endearingly.

And then they try to take over the world like Nubbins from Sanctuary.

I think they may have dug a warren under my bed at this point. Some day the entire house is going to be swallowed by a sink hole.

wow; that would have been very cool too! i wonder if they would have flipped the kanes? or focused on the girl friendship possibilities? they hinted at the ust between daniel and that woman whose first name I forget....Lana?

and then it would have changed the whole plot of that later ep where they go back to that planet.

fascinating bit; thanks for the linkage!

Well, I think the english patient type stuff only came about after it became a Daniel ep. (because of course there must be a woman to fall in love with him. Not that I blame them. ;)

Only now I am imagining Sam in some awesome brown leather outfit a la Amelia Earhart or something. !!!!

posted by [identity profile] princessofg.livejournal.com at 11:03pm on 10/11/2010
exactly, and if they kept the female rescuer then that opens the femslash possibilities as well! i can see sam with her easier than daniel, actually.... *ponders*

Seriously. And if they felt they had to balance too much Sam, why not have, oh a TEAL'C episode.

So sad, but so damn true. At least all the eps CJ wrote were awesome. They should have let him write more.

Yeah, that episode doesn't really do it for me. The Daniel/Lena stuff makes me cringe. Though the Sam in charge of the SG forces at the end almost made it worth it. Why are hand signals so sexy?

Is that bed actually rising off the ground by now due to the growing size of the pile underneath??

*g*

Dude. Even barring the S/J angst possibilities, the whole concept would have been awesome. Sam stranded and making friends with aliens and precipitating a war!

I'm pretty much like, Sam doing anything is awesome. Particularly out on her own. Or at least in charge.

Ok, so let's be honest. It's all about her blowing stuff up.

posted by [identity profile] meoinya.livejournal.com at 03:58am on 13/11/2010
really? I'm a fan of kicking Daniel to the side to make more Sam centric episodes.

Damn boy's club.

There needs to be more female writers. GOOD ones.

So - you're going to toss that bunny into the pile with the others for after Nov, right? But - under Wreckage, Rusted Wheel and the DC series, please! I'll beg! :)
