I'm giving this show a thumbs up. Probably because it hits a lot of my 'helping the underdog in unconventional ways' kinks. Plus, you know, lots of great characters. USA seems to do that well. It's quirky. I like that.

This is Kate. She's a mediator. She's usually running behind, occasionally gets locked up in cuffs for contempt of court, and refuses to give up on anyone. Ever.

This is Leo, Kate's assistant. He is a geek. He is snarky. He knows way more than everyone else around him. Did I mention he plays WoW?

This is Lauren. She's Kate's boss/partner/nemesis. I covet every dress she wears. She is smart, confident, driven, and completely sympathetic as a human being, even if Kate would never agree. Did I mention that she's Kate's evil Step-mother?

This is Anders Justin. He is Kate's ex-husband. They drive each other insane, but they're still there for each other. Sometimes they even forget they aren't married anymore for a while. But only for a while. Because it usually isn't long before Kate steals a file from his desk and remembers how much she hates lawyers.

This is the judge who loves to make Kate's life hell. He's gruff and no-nonsense and once put Kate under arrest for being late to his courtroom one too many times. But you just know that he's a giant softie under all that grumbling who really has a lot of respect for Kate and what she does.

Holy shit, I just realized this is that show people were talking about RDA being on. Hahahaha. That should be interesting.

I watched the first 2 episodes and liked it. I like shows with quirky characters. Gerald McRaney was the best. I loved that he put her in jail for being 4 minutes late and pissing him off. And I was surprised to see Ethan Embry as her brother.

Haha. I can already tell that I will have a soft spot for Kate and that judge. I love those adversarial but still respectful relationships. I was surprised to see Ethan Embry, but not as much as I was surprised how quickly he disappeared. Lol.

Sigh - so another thing to add to the DVR....

(also - the boots are packed)

Yes, life is so hard some times. Don't worry, it will doubtlessly get canceled anyway since I was stupid enough to say out loud that I like it. I'm a jinx like that.

I like it but it's uneven. The third ep didn't wow me but it's early days. I think Leo is terrific!

Oh, yes. Sometimes it tries way too hard. But there are these moments.. Plus. Whenever I switch on the DVR to watch something, if there is a Fairly Legal I jump right for it, which is usually a good sign. Especially since I am in the middle of a rather intense West Wing rewatch. Damn you, "Play All Episodes" option! *shakes fist*

I've been waiting eagerly for this for months, since RDA is going to be on it, and from the "previews" I had high hopes--it looked funny and enjoyable. I was seriously disappointed with the first episode, not quite so bad with the second. I do love The Judge, and especially loved him in the "football coach" ep. of this week, as well as the fact that another SG actor was on it (the villainous dad).

But at this point, I'm watching "at it", just to be able to know what's going on when RDA arrives, about 2 more episodes in, I think. I'm glad you're enjoying it--I wish I was, too!

Sorry you don't like it. I find it pleasantly amusing myself.

Ha ha ha. I keep meaning to watch it. I have a very skeptical eye when it comes to legal dramas, but...(even with RDA).

With the annerb seal of approval, I may have to check it out.

It's not really a legal drama, because it's mostly about getting people to resolve issues *outside* the courts. So Kate runs around trying to convince people not to sue each other. Lol.

I've found it pretty entertaining myself. Definitely looking forward to seeing RDA.
