Also, I am wondering if SGU is suddenly so much better because that's Murhpy's Law, or if I am just being nicer to it in my head because I know it's already canceled? Inquiring minds want to know. I just loved 'Alliance' (see GIP) and 'Hope'. Okay, mostly for Greer. I'm a fangirl, what can I say. And CAMILLE! God, she's awesome. Okay, that's enough. I promise. *stares at icon*

Huh, I thought I was the only crazy one to suddenly start liking SGU. Randomly watched the "let's take over langara one" this week instead of deleting it and am now sad that it's been canceled. I lasted through season one and the first part of two when it was SO painful to watch - occasionally your hopes would rise and then bad writing would slam it down again.

Aw, yeah. And the Langara ep wasn't even the best of the last few. Bad time to choose to hit their stride. :(

Just got a project out the door...and now I have to finish my lesson before leaders meeting at 6:30 am tomorrow. *looks at clock* Yeah, 12 hours from now. Missing family shindig because I was an hour and a half late leaving work to finish project. At least I have more time for the B.S....

It seems to be critical mass time for a lot of us! And all I really want to do is enjoy the sunshine or write! Wah.

Yes, for me this month is crazy. Not only have I put in quite a few extra hours at work (working thru lunch or staying late), it's Script Frenzy, I'm speaking at a conference the end of the month (so prepping for that talk), still tutoring 1X a week instead of taking whole month of because that was a disaster last year and have my Bible study (& leadership takes at least an extra four hours of time besides just the lesson for all attendees which takes a couple hours plus 2 hours on class night).

I probably will just collapse in May!

I think shows tend to hit their stride as they go on - I found the first half of S.1 really rough (I was on the fence) but found the back half enough to hook me in for S.2. I thought S.2 first half was pretty decent, but I'm loving this back half.

The story is far more fleshed out now and I luuuurrrvv it.

Plus I want to hate SyFy because they apparently, in the name change, forgot what genre they used to pimp.

Syfy is a little confused it seems. I guess it's just too bad that it took SGU so long to hit its stride. I think it got a little lost trying to do so much 'cutting-edge' stuff in the beginning. Oh well.

I told my husband that when I first started watching it felt like they were trying to do episodes that would normally fall mid-series - the result was that there were these gut-wrenching moments and I didn't feel invested. When I went back and re-watched the first season again, I was so much more connected to the characters. I found myself laughing more, enjoying it more. I'm frustrated because all shows are a little rough when they start (most err on being too campy...I mean, remember the first few seasons of SG1??) - and it says something that Sanctuary was only got a half pickup. Sci-fi is a niche market and in order to be successful, you have to treat it as such :P

That's just my opinion anyway :(

I thought it was better too. I thought the last three episodes were amazing well done. Well acted, well directed, and well written. I wish Sy Fy had waited till next year to see about canceling it. I think I read somewhere that the ratings were up.

*sigh*

Ah, what timing. Another show with potential biting the dust. I guess the start was just a little too rough over all. Sad.

I think it's Murphy's Law (although I like Murhpy!), because SGU really did get better.

For me it's mostly about the fact that they are all functioning much more like a team. If I wanted to see constant bickering and sniping, I'd watch C-Span. I don't mind debate, but it seemed for a while that there was so much emphasis on character friction, as opposed to differences in opinion that respected the right of the other side to have valid points of view, that the show was becoming increasingly unpleasant. The last few episodes have seemed to have done a one-eighty, and people seemed to have differing opinions but common goals and much more respect for the other side.

Yeah, I think the writers have maybe learned some important lessons. That you *can* have morally ambiguous themes and explore darker stuff, but if you don't give your audience a fulcrum, or some semblance of team and bonding, it just isn't enjoyable to watch. Plus, the shades of grey are more powerfully explored when you put it against bonded, loyal people.

I think I was okay with the bickering longer because I was a Star Trek Voyager fan and they had the two crews (on opposing sides) meld together super fast...so I liked the drama a little more.

I think I'm the minority though :D :D

I have been enjoying the SGU eps, too! Now I'm getting all sad, though...

Yeah, I try not to think about it, honestly. Just enjoy what is left, and if inspired enough, do what I do best: put my fingers in my ears and write fic. ;)
