+ Female Character Trope Fest is going on over at Dreamwidth! Go leave some prompts. Can't wait to see what comes out of this one. Left a few prompts myself. Including a Chase one I am waiting for [livejournal.com profile] lyssie  or [livejournal.com profile] surreallis  to write for me. ;)

+ I watched the new Russell Crowe Robin Hood the other night. It was no where near as bad as I was lead to believe it would be. Not completely awesome either, but very interesting and not at all what I was expecting. But seeing Zipacna and Morris from ER as the merry men was endlessly fun.

+ Good fic to read:

The Story Needed Mending
by Mad_Maudlin (Sanctuary, Kate, Kate/Ashley)
Once upon a time there was a girl, and a ghost. Then it got complicated.
Absolutely great Kate voice. And everyone else too. I love the narrative structure. The best kind of ghost story. Go read it now.

To Dwell on Dreams by [livejournal.com profile] musamihi  (Harry Potter, Snape)
Six years after losing Lily, Severus has to let go all over again.
This is a pretty gut-wrenching and amazing fic about the lengths Snape goes to to keep from having to accept his loss.

It's the Day of Ficamnesty over at [livejournal.com profile] dayofindulgence . Authors are being given the chance to claim Total Victory (posting their completed fic), Reaffirmation (posting a snippet with a promise to FINISH), or Exorcism (posting a snippet and giving up). Hop on over to check out what people have done!

As for me, I ended up claiming Reaffirmation with my Sam/Jack slave!fic of doom. I will finish it one day, dammit! Nearly there. Go here to read my proffered snippet.

Ten days until the Day of Ficamnesty! Feel free to jump on, even if you never signed up for [livejournal.com profile] dayofindulgence. Got a fic you need to free yourself from? Well, July 25th is your day to post it and forget it. Clear up that space in your head for stories with way more promise. Day of Ficamnesty is a day of no apologies!

Personally I am heading strong for Reaffirmation. I think I will have the first half of my indulgent fic ready to post. *fingers crossed* Granted, the first half alone is 67 pages. Lol. Part two? Coming along. But I am not holding my breath for July 25th.

Is there any canon evidence for the name of Kanan's host before Jack? (Aurora? Hmmm?) Any popular in fanon? I need this information for no particular reason at all. *looks shifty*

I was having an unrelated and weird thought today. We should have a 'lock them in a small space together' ficathon. Not necessarily as kinky as that sounds (unless you want it to be). I was just thinking about the Cassie and Vala fic I wrote a while ago and how they probably never would have spoken to each other if I hadn't hobbled Cassie and locked them in a small apartment together. It got me thinking what other interesting conversations might be had if random pairs of characters got locked up together. Like...Madeline from Burn Notice stuck in an elevator with Walter Bishop. Rick Castle and Rodney McKay. Eric Delahoy and Parker. Hurley and Luna Lovegood. Wow. The insanity. This should be a comment fic meme at the very least.

It's probably for the best that I "forgot" to sign up for the [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon , but I just rediscovered my prompts I would have requested in exchange. I want!!!
Burn Notice: Madeline POV. The trickiest part turns out to be keeping herself in cigarettes. Peripheral Michael/Fi great, but not necessary.
Castle: Castle and Alexis. “How would you write our ending?”
Harry Potter: Luna Lovegood. She turns out to be the best person to have around in an apocalypse. Gen or het fine.
Eureka: Jack/Tess. Bonus for inclusion of Sarah saving the day.
CSI Las Vegas: The lab rats, Doc Robbins, and zombies.
Someone write these for me, y/y?
annerb: (happily ever after BOOM)
+ Kavan Smith and Felicia Day in a movie together? Yes, please. (Syfy's upcoming Red)

+So far season three of Burn Notice has taught me one very important thing: Madeline Westen kicks serious ass. I love her with the passion of a million suns. Michael had to get it from somewhere, right? Now if only Fi and Maddie had more to talk about than Michael, this show might be able to dream about passing the Bechdel test.

+Just finished reading The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig. spoilers as to the identity of the Pink Carnation and my review below. )

+I've moved on to Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. I'll let you know if it lives up to the promise demonstrated in the opening chapter.

+[livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon is gearing up again! Go vote for your favorite fandoms to be included. You aren't promising to participate by voting, just making sure there's some awesome fic for you to read. Go now!

+I think an old-fashioned ficathon may be just the thing I need right now. What else is on the horizon? What about [livejournal.com profile] apocalypse_kree ? [livejournal.com profile] ucp_ficathon ? [livejournal.com profile] sjficathon ? Anyone?

I am slowly coming to accept that my [livejournal.com profile] dayofindulgence fic has zero chance of actually getting done by the 25th. This makes me sad. It just hit 86 pages and is maybe 3/4th of the way done, which means another 30 pages probably and that just isn't going to happen in two weeks, short of a writing miracle. (*keeps fingers crossed*) Even if I could sent it off to beta at this moment, I already know it's going to need some major editing work. Boo. And this has nothing to do with late stage writing paralysis caused by realization of just how cheesy/cliche/emo/trite said fic might be. Really. Because that's the point of [livejournal.com profile] dayofindulgence, right? No censoring the muse! *wibble*

On the bright side, I think I might be able to get something else finished up in time to get posted for [livejournal.com profile] dayofindulgence. And it's nearly as cliche and indulgent as my originally proposed entry! Lol. This seems to be a habit with me.

How about you guys? How goes the writing/not writing?
