Because I have been drowning you guys in the uber angst lately...I offer recompense in the form of ficamnesty.

When I started writing String Theory oh so many years ago, I had a vague inkling of where I wanted it to go, with two or three large story arcs in mind. When I actually wrote the final chapter, it happened a lot earlier than I expected, but it just felt right, so I went with it.  But, because of that, a lot of unpublished bits ended up in the black hole of a file I call "Extra Bits".  Including this scene.  I've polished it up and here it is, a String Theory missing scene that takes place pretty much a few hours after the epilogue.  You know, right around when SG-1 discovers that the beautiful tropical planet they visited is not so much what they expected.  And they come home with a new friend. :)

Author’s Note: This story was born of my impulsive decision to claim Sam/Jack in the au100 livejournal challenge, promising to write 100 AU stories.  Out of the resulting panic, this series was born.  We’ve been given glimpses of Dr. Carters on the show, but I have always been very curious to see how the dynamics between all the characters might evolve with a non-military, non-SG-1 Sam.  And then I made a promise to myself not to worry about stylistic consistency, but to instead make every ficlet experimental in some way.  Almost two years later, here we are.  Special thanks to katcorvi, syxp, holdouttrout, and every one of you who followed this story as I wrote it.  I might have abandoned this beast long ago if not for your enthusiasm and support.  And now I am pretty sure this is the longest Author’s Note I have ever crafted.  Lol.
