SJ Fic Rec

Go read [livejournal.com profile] openended 's Waves are Universal right now. Seriously. Long, plotty, wonderfully written, great gritty, enjoyable post-apocalyptic AR, what more could you possibly want? Oh, and lovely Sam/Jack, of course. Did I mention that part? Set some time aside and enjoy!

OMG, talk about great minds thinking alike! I just finished it and wanted to rec it to everyone I know, then hit refresh on my friends page and saw your rec.

Do you know if the author has written anything else? I must admit that I didn't recognize the author name...

I found it earlier today (when I was at work unfortunately) so couldn't finish it now. What a good story, great characters, very refreshing.

I'm loving this story so far. It was so hard to tear myself away yesterday, but I'm looking forward to readings the last two chapters tonight :)

Oooh! Thanks for the rec. I do love me some long, plotty angsty apocafic.

openended's story

Thanks for the rec! Looking forward to reading it tonight. How did you find it? I've never read her stories before.

Just saw it on sj_everyday and took the chance to read it! Luckily! :)

Someone had mentioned that you rec'ed this, so I wanted to stop by and say thanks. Thank you! :)

No problem! Always glad to share awesome fic. Thank you for writing it! :)

Thank you so much for that rec - an excellent story.

That reminds me - I've been meaning to ask you about this story:

The O'Neill Chronicles Book 1 Jack Retires, part 1
by chazevelt

I KNOW my opinion of the story, I was just curious as to what your reaction would be.

Also... I've noticed lately more stories written in the NC17 vein that feature the ACTORS vs the characters. What's up with that?

[identity profile] annerbhp.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't say I've read that fic. I sense you have an objection to it though. Lol.

Ah, RPF. Since I am in my own journal, I can claim the right to admit that RPF squicks the hell out of me, but to each their own. *shrug* I've just never been that interested in actors (or smut, really), so I neither read or write it. But some people love actors almost as much or even more than the characters they portray. But this is what fandom is, no? The one place you never have to excuse your kinks. :)

The O'Neill Chronicles Book 1 Jack Retires, part 1 (which is the only part I've read and will read), is a well crafted story in regards to command of language, grammar and spellin.

However, it is a Mary Sue story (cough) -- the author has taken the character traits of Sam, Daniel and Teal'c and melded them into her own original character. And writes a Jack O'Neill I barely recognize.

Oh, well. We must winnow as we read.

and even spelling.

Sigh.
