2. In season 4's 'The Other Side' they don't have the coordinates to the world trying to contact Earth until Alar transmits them. I'd say the SGC doesn't have a way to tell who's calling.

Just follow the 'Stargate Writers Handbook of Rules for Handwaves.' It works for them. It can work for you. Or not.

Did you know that in the movie the first time they connect the wormhole that it not only goes to another planet, but to a planet in ANOTHER galaxy on the OTHER SIDE of the universe? Sort of blows the whole theory in Children of the Gods about the gates working between Abydos and Earth because Abydos is the closest planet to Earth in the Stargate system, mitigating the planetary shift. I only mention it cause during one of the zillion replays of the movie that has been on recently I caught that part. And put way too much thought into it. Oy.
