I'd do the WIP meme, but I SWEAR every time I mention a story, I doom it to never being finished. So yeah. Not doing that again. So instead, I'll just post a number to give you some small idea how enormous my WIP folder is:

19.

Yes, that is how many different active stories/series I am in the middle of futzing with at the moment. And only one of them is my currently posted WIP. I have been known to have all 19 open at once, just in case the muse decides to cooperate.

And don't even get me started on the Abandoned Fic folder or the Sequels Graveyard. We should have an Abandoned Fic Ficathon where people can adopt these poor suckers. Yeah, because we need another ficathon around here like we need another four years of Bush.

If I sound a little cranky, well, it might be because I spent an hour or two compiling a Master List of Fic that LJ ate. I hope it gets indigestion.

It's pretty intimidating to have them all open at once, but I'm sick like that. One sentence at a time, baby. Snerk. (Is there a fandom olympics? 'Cause there totally should be.)

Yep, 19 is pretty close to my own personal WIP file too. But you are the smart one with only one of them posted out there. *hides in shame*

Your Abandoned Fic folder and Sequels Graveyard sounds intriguing. :) I still keep those in my WIP folder. It's the pack rat in me. I might get to them one of these years. :)

Still, I'm hoping that you will have some more of your current WIP ready soon. What's going to happen next?

I try to limit it to one published WIP at a time. Guilt is a great motivator, but it's a fine line to feeling completely overwhelmed. ;) Clearing out the old fics that I had to admit I will likely never get to actually helped out my muse. It's freeing. You should try it. :) (Plus, if you actually *do* ever write one of them, it feels like an even bigger accomplishment. Ah, the things we do to manipulate our muses.)

19 is a very impressive number. How are you going to live 6 weeks without SixWest? Nineteen! Nineteen. That's a lot of ink and legal pads to haul around.

I am very curious to see what will happen with my writing with no computer for that long. Either I will forget how to write or I will just rededicate myself to pen and paper and come back with a whole slew of fics ready for beta. Lol. We shall see.

I think the entire point of the wip meme is to get us moving on stories we managed to blank from our minds, which is nice, in theory. But, man. So scary!! I think my Sequels Graveyard has to be the saddest, because those are all stories I would LOVE to write, but just never have had time to get back to. If only there were more hours in the day, friendlier muses and no need to, say, eat or earn a living. lol

You know, normally I wouldn't be sympathetic, except you write stories that are much longer than mine. I don't even try to count how many ideas/half-started fics I've left by the wayside, although my current Notepad "TBW" list has about thirty. :P
